LOCAL REGATTA CONTENDERS

BAINBRIDGE – The team of Al Shaver Jr. of Meridale and Trever LeFever of Unadilla were the top local paddlers in the “Pro Class,” the top contenders in today’s 52nd annual General Clinton Regatta. They came in ninth.

Other local contenders in the race, which began at 8 a.m. in Cooperstown’s Lakefront Park and ended at mid-afternoon in Bainbridge, were:

• 11th – Dale Persons, Unadilla, and Mark Gillespie, Rochester
• 13th – Bruce Lee, Port Crane, and John Partridge, Unadilla
• 15th – Jeff Shultis, Otego, and Larry Harrison, West Oneonta

The winners of this year’s Pro class event are Glais Guillame, St. Boniface, Que., and Mathieu Pellerin, Shawingan, Que., in a time of 7:11:30.
