IN MEMORIAM: Michael Swatling, 71; Pursued 50-Year Career In Logging CHERRY VALLEY – Michael Kurth Swatling, 71, who pursued a 50-year career in logging, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Herkimer to Roy K. Swatling and Elizabeth M. (Schroeder) Swatling. The Swatling family put down roots in Fly Creek in 1960, where Mike would eventually graduate high school, start his business and raise a family.…
