MORRIS – As of day’s end yesterday, Frontier Communications customers along Route 51 in Otsego County were “not experiencing any outages,” state Public Service Commission spokesman James Denn reported in an e-mail.

However, if outages begin reoccurring, customers should alert Frontier and, “if repair is delayed or if the company is unresponsive,” they can file complaints with the PSC at 800-342-3377.

NEW BERLIN – State Police have arrested a Morris man after it was reported he sexually assaulted a victim at knife point in the New Berlin area.

Dustin C. Freeman, 30, was charged with rape, criminal sexual act, and unlawful imprisonment, all in the first degree, at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers located Freeman in Rome; he fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief search by Rome city police, state parole officers and Troop D officers.

MORRIS – Robert E. Wing, Sr., 84, a truck driver and inductee into the Central New York Stock Car Hall of Fame, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his own home on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018.

Robert was born on Feb. 4, 1934, in Oneonta, a son of the late Fayette and Olga (Johnson) Wing. Robert had a beautiful marriage with Joan Marie Luckhurst until her departure from this earth in 2006.

He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954, earning several medals.

GARRATTSVILLE – Sean Christopher Dill, 47, of Garrattsville,  passed away on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in the Town of Edmeston.

Sean was born on Sept. 29, 1970, in Ridgewood, N.J., John Dill and Maureen (Mackie) Dill.  Sean and his family moved to the Morris area in June 1984.

In June 1985, he met the love of his life, Amy (Heath) Harris, while at Morris Central School. After many happy years together, Sean and Amy married on July 3, 1999.

Protection of 105 acres along Cahoon Creek, Town of Morris, by landowners Rick O’Keefe and John Chanik, has pushed the Otsego Land Trust’s portfolio over 11,000 acres.

MORRIS – Rick O’Keefe and John Chanik have protected 105 acres they own in Maple Grove on Route 10 in the Town of Morris, the Otsego Land Trust has announced it now has more than 11,000 acres in its portfolio.

The O’Keefe-Chanik acreage includes forests, prime farmlands, wetlands and wildlife habitat.

It was only a year ago September that protection of another tract in the Town of Morris, 80 acres owned by Alice and Joe Richardson, pushed the Land Trust over the 10,000 mark.
