For Finding Medallion, Panzarellas Win $500

2019 COOPERSTOWN WINTER CARNIVAL

For Finding Medallion,

Panzarellas Win $500

A few minutes ago amid the ice sculptures in Pioneer Park, Frankie Panzarella, 13, of Cooperstown, accepts a $500 check for finding the Winter Carnival Medallion. While Frankie actually found the medallion – it was taped to a trash can in the village’s Badger Park – the whole family contributed ideas and encouragement to the undertaking.  From left are dad Frank, brother Matthew, mom Jennifer and sister Emma, plus the family’s dog Rocco, who with Frank was with Frankie when he found the prize.  Making the presentation is Jim Kevlin, right, editor/publisher of The Freeman’s Journal, Hometown Oneonta and AllOTSEGO.com.  This is the 11th year the company has sponsored the Medallion hunt.  The three-day carnival ends this evening from 5:30-7:30 with Grilled Cheese For A Good Cause, a benefit for Otsego 2000 at The Farmers’ Market.
