IN MEMORIAM:  ‘Mickie’ Howard, 93; WWII Veteran ONEONTA – Elva “Mickie” Howard, 93, a WAAC during World War II and later cook for 20 years in the Laurens Central School cafeteria, passed away on Wednesday morning at Fox Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. Mickie was born on Oct. 22, 1921, in Blaine, Miss., the daughter of the late Clarence and Bertha (Barrett) Mitchell. She married Robert V. Howard on March 6, 1944.
