2 Candidates Sought To Run For

Oneonta Fire District Vacancies

ONEONTA – The Town of Oneonta Fire District today announced elections to fill two fire commissioner vacancies will be held 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St.

Candidates are needed for one five-year term that begins on Jan. 1, 2018 and ends on Dec. 31, 2022, and one two-year term that begins Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2019.

To run, submit a letter of intent to: Secretary, Town of Oneonta Fire District, Box 264, Oneonta NY 13820.  Indicate whether you are seeking the two-year or five-year term.  Fax or email letters will not be accepted.

The district has been embroiled in negotiations, now stymied, with the City of Oneonta over the term of a contract that would allow the professional OFD to continue serving district residents.

Notification by e-mail and fax will not be accepted

The town fire commissioners meet at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Elm Park Church.
