5 Citizens Convinced
Village To Waive Fines
Snow-Shoveling Policy Studied Anew
COOPERSTOWN – The letters of five citizens read at Monday’s Village Board meeting convinced the trustees to “cancel” five $108 fines and forgive 21 others levied by the Public Works Department, which deemed sidewalks not sufficiently cleared after the light snow of Jan. 18-19.
Cooperstown Village~as to the fines against residents for not clearing their sidewalks is a travesty. The amount of taxes paid by village residents should certainly include clearing of sidewalks by the village crew. If the Town of Hartwick can clear the streets in the hamlet, certainly, the equipment that Cooperstown village has could do the job done with out any increase in manpower or equipment!!!
