IN MEMORIAM: Eileen Charles Owen, 80

Eileen C. Owen

COOPERSTOWN – Eileen Charles Owen, 80, formerly of Cooperstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at home in Bronxville following a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 12, 1937, in Brooklyn, to the late Richard and Kathryn Charles, Eileen lived in Garden City, Cooperstown and Albany before settling in Bronxville.

She graduated from St. Angela Hall and Marymount Junior College. She worked as a medical secretary for many years.

Survivors include her beloved children: Mary Kay Owen, Downingtown, Pa.; John Owen (Patty), Dallas, Texas; Christopher Owen, Bronxville; Brendan Owen, Fort Worth, Texas; Timothy Owen (Katherine), Charlotte, N.C. and Michael Owen, The Bronx.   She was the devoted grandmother of Megan, Timothy and Sean.

Cherished siblings include her sisters: Betty Ann (Jack) Savage, Judy Charles, Mary Jane Charles and a brother Patrick Charles (Bettyanne).  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, John Hewitt Owen, a lawyer and public defender in Cooperstown, and later a state administrative law judge.
