IN MEMORIAM: Earl A. Duncan, 60;

Golden Gloves Boxer Raised In Richfield

WEST WINFIELD – Earl A. Duncan, 60, a Golden Gloves boxer in his youth, and later a boxing coach, passed away Monday evening, April 22, 2019, in Bassett Hospital.

Earl was born on May 8, 1958, in Herkimer, a son to the late Edward and Rosetta Mondore Duncan. He was raised and educated in Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs.

At one time he worked for the Village of Richfield Springs DPW, later on he became the superintendent of the Schuyler Lake Cemetery. He also worked with his family as a logger. On July 29, 1978 he married the former Laurie Bond in Bridgewater.

In his youth, Earl was a Golden Gloves Boxer and later became a coach, coaching Mixed Martial Arts. Earl enjoyed collecting watches, doing horse shows with his Palomino Horse, also he had much fun running in four wheeler racing. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.

Earl was a good man who had a great sense of humor and was always ready to help someone out. A friend too many he will never be forgotten.

Surviving him is his wife of forty years Laurie, two sons, Earl Duncan Jr and his fiancé Jennifer Larmon of Cedarville, and Zachary of West Winfield; two brothers, William Duncan of Burlington Flats and James Duncan and his wife Peggy of Richfield Springs; three sisters Rosemary Oldick of Fort Plain, Elizabeth Walsh of Richfield Springs, and Betty Abrams and her husband Barry of Richfield Springs, nine grandchildren; Maghen, Caitlyn, Tyler, “Junior”, Sarah, Hannah, Payton, Taylor, and Hayden, and a sister-in-law Janet Duncan.

Besides his parents he preceded in death by his brother Edward Duncan.

Calling hours for Mr. Duncan will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. A funeral service to follow at 4  p.m.with the Rev. Alan Miller officiating. Burial will take place later this spring in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.
