Rob Robinson, Oneonta, former 17-year executive director of the Otsego County Chamber, pleaded guilty yesterday to felony insurance fraud in the first degree in county court in Cooperstown.

Robinson, with no criminal history and in declining health, accepted a deal that will spare him  jail time.  Sentencing has been set for a later date.

Assistant District Attorney Will Green, Cooperstown, said today he believes Robinson will face fines and a three-year conditional discharge.

Norman Michaels Jr., who was accused of taking $62,000 in the scheme, was found guilty of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheming to defraud on May 19.  He is facing prison and will be sentenced later this summer.

Robinson was arrested in November 2011 and charged with enrolling illegible people in health plans, costing more than $1 million  to MVP Health Care.
