IN MEMORIAM: Frank Giudice, 89;
WWI Veteran, Mechanic At Packard
ONEONTA – Frank Giudice, 89, a World War II veteran and career-long auto mechanic, beginning at the local Packard dealership, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Fox Hospital.
Frank was born in Oneonta on March 28, 1927, the son of Sebastian and Maude (Pizza) Giudice, and was one of 10 children. He married Constance Winnie of Port Jervis in 1950; they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They had two children, Robert and Elizabeth.
He had an inquisitive mind along with many interests, always looking for something to fix or someone to tease. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping snow mobile riding, hunting antiques, Sunday drives in his MG, but most of all, flying his Piper PA 12 plane.
Frank served in World War II and was discharged as tech sergeant.
He was an auto mechanic for the local Packard dealership, originally at 504 Main St., and Sloan’s Esso. He then joined St. Onge business machines as a repair tech. After that he shuttled cars for Karns Ford.
Frank is survived by his wife Connie; his daughter Beth; his brothers, Vint, and Nick ( wife Mary); and his sister Viola (husband Willie) Jurjens; his daughter-in-law Julie, and her son Matt; brother-in-law, John ( wife Lorraine) Winnie, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews, and his recently rediscovered family in Italy and Australia.
He was predeceased by his son, Robert; his brothers, Joe, Albert, and Paul; and his sisters Rose, Lucy and Virginia.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mel Farmer, officiating. Burial will be in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
