Math Professor At SUNY Oneonta, Delhi

ONEONTA – David John Hildreth, 73, a mathematics professor at SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Delhi,  died of complications from Alzheimer’s at Mountainside Residential Care in Margaretville on April 11, 2016.

He was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Robert and Emma (Turley) Hildreth.

He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education. David married Elizabeth Hamilton on Aug. 13, 1966 in Glen Rock, N.J.. He and his wife and baby son moved to Delhi in 1970.
In addition to his wife, Emma, he is survived by children Scott (Jill) Hildreth of Slingerlands, and Cynthia (David) Bergamesca of Marshfield, Mass.; his grandsons Eric, Jacob, Reid, and Ryan; his siblings, Olive (Jerry) Hoffman, George (Barbara) Hildreth, Carolyn Hughes (Roger Stull), Paul (Diane) Hildreth, Mildred McKitrick (Frank Kynkor), and Dorothy Hildreth; his sisters-in-law, Sue Hildreth and Dee Hildreth.

He was predeceased by brothers Carl and Robert Hildreth.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The United Ministry of Delhi, PO Box 111, Delhi, NY 13753.
