COOPERSTOWN – The Village Board will get a first look at CVS’ site plan and application for a new pharmacy on the Cooperstown Motel site at Chestnut and Beaver, Cooperstown’s southern gateway.

“The project consists of demolishing the motel and construction a 9,516-square-foot CVS/pharmacy with a drive-thru,” according to an application submitted by the Zaremba Group, Lakewood, Ohio, the developer.

“The site will include approximately 44 parking spaces, pedestrian accommodations via sidewalks and cross walks, two driveway entrances, signage, lighting, landscaping and an above-ground storm water detention basin.”

CVS currently operates a pharmacy at 100 Main St.,which would likely relocate if the new facility it built.  The plan requires permits from the village Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and H-PARB (the Historic Preservation & Architectural Review Board), as well as a special permit from the trustees, since it is larger than 3,000 square feet.

  1. That would be very inconvenient for people who like to “walk” the village. I also think the current CVS brings people in which helps sales for the smaller in town shops.

  2. How sad this will ultimately be for Main Street. As a local, there are many times I go into town for something, and then pop into CVS on a whim, and vice versa (especially around Christmas time). I would venture to bet that CVS is going to lose a lot of tourist business. I was so hoping Price Chopper was going to expand!!

  3. No…….no……no !! Such a monstrosity would erode the charm of our beautiful village. We have to guard against this assult on our treasured; quaint environment which has been the calling card of Cooperstown for generations. Where does this gentrification end ??? Stop the sprawl !!!!
