Sunday Event Will Highlight New Veterans’ Book
COOPERSTOWN—Next Sunday, October 19, Joanie Parrillo will unveil her new book honoring local veterans in a public event at Sherman’s Tavern in The Hotel Pratt, 50 Pioneer Street.
“A sincere expression of gratitude is extended to CJ Dimick for generously donating his historic bar and restaurant space to facilitate this momentous occasion of local history,” Parrillo said.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1:30-5:30 p.m. It will include book signings and music by DJ Brian Keller. Release of the book coincides with the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and, Parrillo said, “honors the selfless bravery that has afforded us our freedom.”
Inclusion in the book was open to any veteran in the Cooperstown vicinity, living or deceased. To learn more about this initiative and Parrillo’s path to publication, see https://www.allotsego.com/a-banner-effort-one-womans-mission-to-preserve-vets-stories/.
“Attendees can enjoy munchies and a cash bar while dressed in era-inspired attire (or not), ensuring an unforgettable experience,” she added. All book profits will be donated to the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford to help offset residents’ personal expenditures, including haircuts and clothing.
