Debris Removed from Otsego Lake

COOPERSTOWN—Volunteers representing the Otsego Lake Association, the Village of Cooperstown and the SUNY Oneonta Biological Field Station collected an estimated 1,000 pounds of debris from Otsego Lake during the “Otsego Lake Clean Up” event on Saturday, August 15. Homeowners on the west, north and east sides of the lake placed debris on their docks, which volunteers then picked up from 9-11 a.m. Items collected included many old tires covered in zebra mussels (pictured above), wood and even a small, ice-destroyed boat, officials reported.
