IN MEMORIAM: Sharon Ann Haines, 70;

Services Set For Salvation Army Mainstay

ONEONTA – Sharon Ann Haines, 70, mainstay of the Oneonta Salvation Army post for four decades, was “promoted to Glory” Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.

Sharon was the office manager and a soldier of the Oneonta Salvation Army for over 40 years, and was honored with the Salvation Army’s “Others” award in May of this year.

She was the leader of the “Busy Bees” seniors group at the Salvation Army and was instrumental in the annual Christmas effort. Sharon also served as Corps Secretary since 1977, and also served as Home League Program chairman, Junior Legion leader and Sunday School teacher during her time with the Oneonta Salvation Army.

Sharon is survived by her husband Robert. She is also survived by her son Gordon of Yeagertown, Pa.; and her brothers George Wenrich of Autryville, N.C., and Ronald Wenrich of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; grandchildren Katrina Haines of Bellefonte, Pa.; Alethia Haines of Lock Haven, Pa.; and Sarah Haines and Michael Haines, of Yeagertown, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon Filer and Marian Patrick, and her sister, Star Lambert.

Calling hours will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 15, at The Salvation Army post on River Street. A memorial service will be at 1 pm on Thursday, also at the Oneonta Salvation Army.

At the request of family, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oneonta Salvation Army Food Bank, 25 River St, Oneonta, NY 13820.
