Bud Lippitt, CCS Phys-Ed Teacher,

Wins This Year’s Fetterman Prize

Bud Lippitt

COOPERSTOWN – Harold “Bud” Lippitt, Cooperstown Elementary phys-ed teacher, has joined the list of Fetterman Award winners, chosen for their contribution to the wellbeing of young people locally, particularly in the area of athletics.

An award presentation luncheon is being planned for Friday, Oct. 6, at The Otesaga, by the Clark Foundation and the Clark Sports Center, sponsors of the program.

Lippitt has long been in the center of Cooperstown youth sports, organizing T-ball and rookie leagues at the village’s youth baseball commissioner.  When government funding dried up, he raised private funds in support of the “Red” Bursey summer playground program.

He was also a member in 2015 of the first class of “20 Under 40” honorees from around the county, a program sponsored by The Freeman’s Journal and Hometown Oneonta, which will be repeating it this February.
