Dinner Feeds Hundreds

ONEONTA – In a tradition that began 30 years ago, The First Methodist Church of Oneonta held its annual Christmas dinner this afternoon.
Organized this year by Ann Steen, the church was filled with those looking for a warm, home cooked meal before Christmas.
“This dinner is for the lonely and the needy,” said Steen. “The meal is completely cost free.”
The event, which was funded by donations from multiple local businesses and residents, sought to feed the less fortunate members of the community who just needed a warm meal and some good company.
Meals included turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, and cranberry sauce. While serving roughly 150 people in the church is quite impressive, volunteers also delivered over 200 meals to people who could not make it to the church for the dinner.
