IN MEMORIAM: Jack Bottita Jr., 29;

MCS Grad Photographer Of Trains

MILFORD – Jack (Jackson) Bottita Jr., 29, a railroad enthusiast and 2007 Milford graduate, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Jack was born April 11, 1989 in Cooperstown to Brenda Kilts and Jack Bottita. He graduated from Milford Central School in 2007.

His true passions were raising his daughter Lydia, train chasing, and football. He was a member of the Trainworks family and spent many of his younger years helping restore the train tracks in Milford. He and his daughter would sit for hours waiting for a train to come by so he could photograph it. His hobby took him to many states.

He was employed by the Coca Cola Company out Albany for several years and most recently by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group as a truck driver in Colorado Springs Colorado.

Jack is survived by his daughter Lydia Bottita of Milford, his wife Arika Bottita, Colorado Springs, Colo., his parents Brenda Kilts Christian (Peter) of Afton and Jack Bottita (Jodi) of Hartwick, step-siblings Roxanne Moore and Christopher Ray, his maternal grandmother Phyllis Peterson of Hartwick, his mother and father-in-law Becky and Dave Morin and several special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by his best friend and “brother” Anthony Edwards of Hawaii and close friends Chris and Joyce Duda of Milford. He will be missed by all who knew him as he boards the train for his ride to heaven.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at the Milford train station in Milford. We are requesting that you do not dress up, but wear some of his favorite things such as flannel shirts or anything with a train or 49er’s logo.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to a suicide prevention program of your choice or the Milford train station.
