IN MEMORIAM: William Hymers, 68;

Cancer Claims Oneonta Man In Florida

Billy Hymers

ONEONTA – William K. “Billy” Hymers, 68, passed away in his winter home in Margate, Fla. on Nov. 24, 2018, with his loving family by his side. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer.

William was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Delhi, the son of the late Douglas and Tarisa Hymers. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Inez; daughter, Tarisa Finne (Dan); grandchildren, Ethan and Torryn; sisters, Roberta “Bobbie” and Peggy Hall (Ed); brother, Wayne Hymers (Peg); aunt, Betty and several loved nieces, nephews, cousins and step family.

Bill graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1969, and attended SUNY Delhi.

He was a very supportive husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend to many. He was a man of God, trusting Lord Jesus Christ. Bill was a very active participant in the Main Street Baptist Church, Oneonta.

Bill was a fierce competitor with a servant’s heart. He will best be remembered for being kind and loving, always willing to give a helping hand, and his devotion to his grandchildren and all his family.

Bill was raised in the family business, where he developed a love of cars. He liked outdoor activities, such as tennis pickleball, bicycling, sailing and camping. He also liked to line dance and to travel. He was known by friends as the “Rummicube Champion.”

Bill was a tractor-trailer driver for over 40 years. The majority of that time he delivered feed for Blue Seal Feeds in and out of many Upstate farms

Memorial donations be made in honor of Bill to Catskill Area Hospice, 297 River St. Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Funeral services will be next April 27, at the Main Street Baptist. Further information will be posted in  Hometown Oneonta and the Daily Star in April.
