Salvation Army Needs Help

Statewide, Not Just Locally

Maj. Ivan Rock

ONEONTA – The local Salvation Army post falling behind on its kettle drive is part of a larger challenge.

With just 10 ringing days left in this year’s campaign, the kettles are trending short of the statewide goal,  Maj. Ivan Rock, commander of the Syracuse-based Empire Division, reported today.

With 13 days to go, the Oneonta post that serves Otsego County reported it was $3,000 short at that point compared to last year.

“We’re reaching a critical point in this campaign,” he said. “Donations in the kettles build our capacity to meet needs and transform lives in every zip code in our division. And every indicator, every predictor we use points to an even greater need in the year to come.

“Each donation, every hour of bellringing will literally be helping us put food on the table for individuals and families in need.”

Volunteer bellringers are also needed.  You can also support the work of The Salvation Army by starting your own online fundraiser.

The Empire State Division, which includes Otsego, has 45 Service Centers, 166 volunteer-led Service Units that, together, meet the unique needs in every zip code in the division’s 48-county footprint.
