Chinese Auction Leads Up To Feb. 16 Event

Ezra Wilber of Cherry Valley, now 14, a beneficiary of the 2004 Goodyear Lake Polar Bear Jump, helps distribute merchandise to winning bidders at today’s Chinese auction in the Milford Central School gym to benefit this year’s plunge, planned for Saturday, Feb. 16.  The winners were Michelle Zuk, Oneonta, accompanied by a friend, Barbara Finkelstein.  At right, young Maverick Bliss, 4, shows glee at mom Jamie Bliss bids on an item.  Mascot Goodie the Polar Bear was among the VIPs at today’s event, where hundreds of items, from a night at the Holiday Inn Express to a $25 gift certificate at Mel’s at 22, were auctioned off; proceeds will help pay for treatment of 10 youngsters, with some also going to the Catskill Area Hospice, Milford Fire Department & EMS, and the Portlandville Methodist Church.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
