IN MEMORIAM: Anne Frederick, 98;
Irish Native Worked For Clark Estates
ONEONTA – Anne Frederick, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord March 13, 2019.
She was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1921, the daughter of Miles and Mary (Rossiter) Doyle. Anne moved to London in 1938, where she served as an air raid warden during WWII.
In 1960, she and her husband, Thomas Cripps, moved to the U.S.A. where they worked for the Clark Estate. She also worked at The Otesaga.
After retiring, she became a tour guide at The Fenimore House and at Hyde Hall. Anne also volunteered at Bassett Hospital in the “Serving Spoons” program and with an Alzheimer support group. She loved cooking and entertaining; her tea kettle was always on.
Anne is survived by her daughter Eve Cripps and sons Stewart and John Cripps, as well as by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas Cripps and George Frederick, her son Alan Cripps, and her great granddaughter Naoli Cripps.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Steve Estes of the West Davenport Free Baptist Church will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, the Tillapaugh Funeral Home, 28 Pioneer St., Cooperstown.
Anne’s family will be present at the funeral home from 4 pm until the time of the service to receive friends.
