IN MEMORIAM: Barbara Novko, 86,

Of Laurens; Mother Of 7 Children

Barbara K. Novko

LAURENS – Barbara Katharine Novko, 86, who raised seven  children, passed away, Aug. 13, 2018 at Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

She was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Albany, the daughter of Arthur and Katharine (Carey) Hutson.

Barbara graduated from Holy Names Academy in Albany.  She held several jobs during her lifetime, her most treasured was being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Celine and husband, Tom Francisco of West Laurens, Judith and husband, Floyd Byam of Virginia, Dolores “Lorrie” and husband, Fred Dykstra of Richfield Springs, Frank Novko and Juliet King of Selkirk, Paul Novko and Sherri Pignetti of Sharon Springs, Marie and husband, Michael McCrea of Cooperstown, and Rebecca and husband, Steven Conklin of Laurens; grandchildren, Meghan, Erin, Nathaniel and Kathleen Francisco, Daniel, Travis and wife, Kate, Breanne and Collen Byam,  Vanessa and Trenton Dykstra, Katherine Novko, Amanda and Andrew Wilkinson, Lucas and Caleb Novko, Julia and Leah McCrea, Daniel, Greggory, Nichole, Jared, and Logan Conklin; great-grandchildren, Myles Byam, Aaliya and Grayson Conklin and Mia Whiteway; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, John and Arthur Hutson; granddaughter, Kayla Marie Byam and uncle, Edward Carey.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.
