Boy, 11, Deputies Contribute

$550 In COVID Aid To MCS

Dexter Walsh, Milford Center, presents a $550 check at noon today to Milford Superintendent of Schools Mark Place, intended for school supplies and field trips. The son of Stephen and Laura Walsh, the home-schooled sixth-grader, who had attended Milford Central through third grade, was concerned COVID-19 financial impacts might prevent MCS from providing some of the services he had enjoyed there. According to his mother, he set up a Go Fund Me site and raised $150. Hearing about Dexter’s effort, Sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Imperato made a $400 contribution to the effort on behalf of the County Corrections Union and the county Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association. In a speech on presenting the check today, Dexter said he was touched by the deputies’ generosity. He added, “We hope this helps our school district and our friends at Milford Central School.”
