IN MEMORIAM: ‘Charlie’ Bergen, 47;

Cherry Valley Man Claimed By Cancer

CHERRY VALLEY – On Feb. 2, 2017, Henry “Charlie” Bergen lost his battle of cancer.   Charlie was surrounded by his sisters, brothers, and family, and felt the strength of love from his family and friends to allow his spirit to make a peaceful departure.

Charlie was born on Jan. 29, 1970. He recently shared his 47th birthday with his family and friends.

Charlie is survived by his two brothers, Walter Bergen Jr. (wife Donna), Michael Bergen, and three sisters, Susan Bergen, Sally Tripp, and Barbara Rockwell (husband Robert).  He has five nieces, Renee Sowle, Heather Sowle, Alicia (Mike) Lounsbury, Andrea Rockwell, and Becky Tripp.  Charlie also loved his great niece Jazzlyn Sowle and great nephew Ronan Lounsbury.

Charlie graduated from Cherry Valley Central School.  He was a valuable employee at Capstone Logistics for 10+ years. He was a leader and fork truck operator in the frozen food department.

Charlie loved the outdoors. We enjoyed his talks about hunting, 4-wheeling, and his frequent trips to “Red Camp”.   Charlie was a giving person who never expected anything in return.  His love of the outdoors and his helping hands will be greatly missed by so many people.

Charlie is now resting with his mom Helen Lassell, father Walter Bergen Sr., and brother-in-law Michael Tripp.

The calling hours are 6-5  p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley, NY. There will be a summer burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Charlie Bergen to Camp Outlet “Red Camp” PO box 276 Little Falls NY 13365, Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
