Cooperstown Comp Plan Draft

Ready; Public Input Sought 4/5

COOPERSTOWN – An update of the village Comprehensive Master Plan, begun in the summer of 2014, is heading toward completion, with another round of public input sought at a Community Open House 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the fire hall on Chestnut Street.

That day, interested citizens, from the village and beyond, are encouraged to stop by and review  the plan’s Visions, Goals and Recommendations that will be displayed on easels.   Attendees will be provided with pens, markers and Post-It notes to comment on the plan.

The committee will then review the inputs and adjust the plan, with the hope of getting it before the Village Board for a vote by summer’s end, according to Village Trustee Cindy Falk, who is co-chair of the committee along with Otsego Now COO Elizabeth Horvath, 

The plan is a joint effort of the village and Otsego Now, which contracted with Elan Planning & Design, Saratoga Springs, to staff the effort.

Board Discusses County and State Finances, Development, Government Transparency

Numerous speakers utilized the privilege of the floor to address the board on issues concerning them. Notably, Teresa Winchester, Lynn Ohl, and Gilbertsville Mayor Aidan Woishnis each spoke to their grievances regarding the recent closure of the Gilbertsville Meadow Brook Bridge on County Route 4. Winchester read from a letter describing how the bridge was closed due to it being declared unsafe for use, but said that the county had known of its failing condition for years.…
