ONEONTA—The Otsego County Democratic Committee will host DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta as the keynote speaker at its annual dinner on Saturday, September 27 at 6 p.m. in SUNY Oneonta’s Hunt Ballroom.

According to a release issued Tuesday, August 26, Representative Kenyatta is a barrier-breaking public figure, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color and one of the youngest people elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2018. In 2022, he became the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color to seek a U.S. Senate seat in American history. In February, 2025 he was elected as vice chair of the DNC.

Kenyatta will be joined by New York State Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado and local Democratic candidates.

“I am thrilled that Representative Kenyatta will be coming to Otsego County,” said Otsego County Democratic Committee Chair Caitlin Ogden. “He’s a trailblazer, an inspiring speaker, and his presence at our annual dinner is a testament to the importance of local elections in Otsego County as a bellwether for our state and our democracy.

“We are also very excited to welcome our former congressman and current lieutenant governor, Antonio Delgado, who has been a great friend to Otsego County and a dedicated public servant,” Ogden said.

The dinner will include food, drinks, music, and a silent auction, and will be followed by a dance party to raise money for the Otsego Refugee Resettlement Program.

Tickets can be purchased at www.ostegodemocrats.com.
