HARTWICK – Despite a major legal setback, Hartwick supervisor candidate Juli Sharratt says she’ll continue her campaign.

“I’m just really disappointed,” Sharratt said this morning. “What can I say, the law is the law.”  She will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot on the independent Parity line.

Yesterday, state Supreme Court Justice Kevin Dowd threw Sharratt off the Democratic ballot line in the Nov. 3 general election.

In a narrow ruling, Dowd found that the Otsego County Democratic Party chairman did not have the authority to fill vacancies on the Hartwick Democratic Committee. That committee gave Sharratt the party’s nomination after the primary ended in a tie.

“I’ll just campaign hard. I have a lot of people backing me, I remain positive,” said Sharratt. “It’s difficult to win something from an independent line, but it’s not impossible.”

Robert O’Brien is the Republican candidate. Incumbent Supervisor David Butler will appear on the Hartwick Pride ballot line.
