Eat, Sleep, Swim, Repeat

COOPERSTOWN—Holly Donnelly-Heg (right), age 14, completed the nine-mile Otsego Lake swim on August 9. She started at Cooperstown’s Lakefront Park and ended at Hyde Hall on the north end of the lake. Jumping in the water at 8:51 a.m. and ending at 1:17 p.m., Holly finished the swim in 4 hours and 26 minutes. She was accompanied by her parents, Megan and Martin, on a pontoon boat. The swim began with calm waters and a light breeze but turned choppy with white cap waves for the last three miles. Holly is the granddaughter of Pat and Paul Donnelly of Cooperstown. She spends her summer weekends at the family camp one mile north of Three Mile Point Park. This fall, Holly will continue to swim for Syracuse City Lightning as a sophomore.
