DELHI—Former Oneonta Councilmember Michele Frazier announced that she will run again in 2026 for the 51st New York Senate District, which includes Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie and Sullivan counties, and parts of Broome, Chenango and Ulster. Frazier grew up in Oneonta, where her family owned a greenhouse company for more than 35 years.

“The people of rural New York deserve better than career politicians chasing titles and favors. They need a representative who listens, fights for them, and puts everyday people ahead of politics, ambition, and the insiders who’ve failed us for too long,” Frazier said in a release. “When I see a problem, I don’t wait around, I fight to fix it. Right now, our state and our country are being sold out: billionaires get handouts, families can’t afford a home, and rural hospitals are closing their doors. I’m ready to take on these rigged systems and get to work for the people on day one.”

Frazier raised nearly half a million dollars when she ran for the seat in 2024 and will start this cycle with nearly $20,000.00 on hand. She received endorsements from the Working Families Party, New York State Public Employees Union, UAW, Planned Parenthood, SEIU, NYSNA and more during the last campaign. According to her announcement, Frazier wishes to prioritize affordability, better housing supply, rural health and childcare access, and mental health services. She lives in Delhi and works as a realtor and college political science instructor. For more information, visit michelefrazier.com.
