IN MEMORIAM: George Miller, 90;
WWII Veteran; D&H Car Repairman

ONEONTA – George R. Miller, 90, a World War II Navy veteran who spent his career as a car repairman on the D&H, passed away after an extended illness with his loving family by his side on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at home.
He was born April 20, 1926, in Portlandville, son of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Bolos) Miller.
On Sept. 29, 1956, George married Geraldine D. Bliss in Oneonta; she predeceased him on Dec. 10, 1986.
George enjoyed gardening, watching sports on TV, attending family gatherings and Bingo. He was very active and on many evenings after work he would help neighbors do whatever they needed done. But what was most important to George was spending time with his family.
George was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his three children, Sandra Wilson of Oneonta, Melody Miller of Oneonta, and Kenneth (Liz) Miller of King of Prussia, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Lavonne Voorhees, Steven Voorhees, Bennae Boschetti, Annette Nutt, Georginia Butler, Tiffany Mein, Greg Miller and Kayla DeSilva; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Miller of Milford; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Bookhout Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. Mary’s with Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice in George’s memory.
