The newly minted Republican candidate for Cooperstown Village Board, John Sansevere, signs the requisite paperwork this evening at 22 Main after he was nominated by the GOP caucus.  At right is Lynn Krogh, clerk of the caucus. Sansevere will challenge Democrats Jim Dean and Cindy Falk, nominated at last Thursday’s Democratic caucus, in the March 18 elections.  Sansevere, a member of the village’s Zoning Board of Appeals for the past year, said, “We need some fresh blood; we need some common sense.”  Asked about paid parking, he said, “It’s here to stay.”  He moved to Cooperstown in 2000 from New York City, where he worked for J.P. Morgan.  Today, he works for Birnie Bus and operates a B&B on Chestnut Street.  He is the first candidate nominated by village Republicans since the Democrats swept the 2011 elections.  (Jim Kevlin/allotsego.com)
