ONEONTA – Hartwick College will dedicate the new men’s locker room complex at the Binder Phys-Ed Center at 6 p.m. Monday in honor of Richard P. Miller, former Oneonta mayor and college president.

A 5:30 reception will precede the dedication; tours of the Dick Miller Locker Room Complex will follow.

The refurbished complex on the Binder’s third floor includes brand new lockers, showers and shower partitions, lights and light fixtures, paint, wall tile, and a 10-by-25-foot wall mural highlighting Hartwick men’s athletics.

Funds for the project were raised through the recent record-setting Campaign for Students. Former Trustee Robert E. (Bob) Spadaccia ’70 was the lead donor.

The Complex is the home of the Calvin W. Chase ’71 Men’s Soccer Team Room, the Dale L. Rothenberg Swimming & Diving Team Room, and the Mary S. ’73 and Neal K. ’72 Miller Men’s Basketball Team Room. These rooms, also named as part of the campaign, received upgrades including flat screen televisions, custom wood lockers, and rubber flooring.

Hartwick College President Margaret L. Drugovich and local business owner/community leader Richard (Rick) Eastman will offer remarks at the ceremony.

Miller served as the College’s ninth president, from 2003 to 2008. During his presidency he was steadfast in his efforts to enhance the fiscal and physical well-being of the campus.  Following his retirement, he won two terms as mayor before his passing on Oct. 25, 2014.

News from the Noteworthy Oneonta Mayor Path to Success In these first 7-months on the job, I’ve been occasionally reminded that not everyone shares my optimism for Oneonta’s future. As Mayor, it’s my duty to present a cogent argument for optimism and to champion the benefits of respectful collaboration.…
