Baby Boy From Walton First 2019 Bassett Birth

Austin James Robinson is the first baby born in 2019 at the Bassett Birthing Center in Cooperstown. Austin arrived at 3:01 a.m. New Year’s Day to his mother and father, Destiny Grant and Adam Robinson of Walton, Austin weighs 6 lbs.,13 oz,, and is 19¾ inches long. Destiny noted that Austin’s birthday is exactly 30 days before her own birthday. 2018 was another record setting year with 1,081 babies born at Bassett.

SELL ON LIST: Joseph Sell, a Sophomore Fashion Design major from Hartwick named to the Fall 2018 Dean’s List at Bob Jones University.

Brewery Ommegang employee Tim Smith, Cooperstown, heaves some holiday boughs from Liz Callahan onto the bonfire at the annual Snack Crackle Hops! event at Ommegang on Saturday, Jan. 5. Area residents were invited to come dispose of their Christmas trees on the bonfire and enjoy a glass of beer on the house.

4 On Hudson Valley CC Dean’s List

Benjamin Worman, Milford, was one of four local Hudson Valley Community College students named to the Fall 2018 President’s List.
Also on the list were:
• Annika DeVries of Burlington Flats who is studying in the Non Matriculated academic program.
• Lindsay Holdorf of Edmeston who is studying in the Marketing academic program.
• Brianna Tolley of Maryland who is studying in the Teaching Assistant academic program.

 

Santa’s Cottage, removed from Cooperstown’s Pioneer Park on Saturday, sits a bit forlornly at the village DPW on Linden Avenue today, amidst discarded Christmas trees, (which residents may drop on the curb through the end of the month for municipal pickup). Fear not, the holiday season is only 11 months away, and Santa’s Cottage will be safely stored until then.
