In Memoriam

Marie O’Malley, 94

Dec. 16, 1927 – Feb. 15, 2022

ONEONTA – She was born December 16, 1927 in Salem, N.Y., the daughter of Harry and Anna Currey.

She graduated from Washington Academy in Salem, N.Y., in 1945, from Oneonta Normal School (SUCO) in 1949 and St. Rose’s College, Albany, N.Y., in 1964.

She taught intermediate Special Education for 32 years for the Oneonta School District and Catskills Area BOCES in the Watkins House, the old Oneonta Jr. High School, Riverside School and Greater Plains School.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church since 1945. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, Young At Heart, Otsego County Retired Teachers Society and a life member of the Oneonta Elks Club.

Marie will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and students. Her joy of all things in Nature, traveling with her family and friends, campfires and her insatiable enthusiasm for reading.

She was predeceased by her husband, William; daughter, Margaret; and son, Edward. Marie is survived by a daughter, Mary and Steven Opie, Chenango Forks and a son, William of Mahwah, N.J.; three granddaughters, Anna and Will Rotach, Oviedo, Fla., Eileen and Teddy Peet, Elmira and Marie and Derric Frost, Scottsdale, Ariz.; five great grandchildren, Nicholas and Christina Peet, Brigid Rotach and Edward and Hudson Frost; daughter-in-law, Linda Taylor O’Malley; one niece and two nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff on South 2 at Willow Point Nursing Home. Their care and dedication will always be remembered.

In Memoriam Gerold D. Hill 1945-2023 FREDERICKSBURG, VA—Gerold D. Hill, 78, of Homosassa, Florida and formerly of Portlandville, New York, passed away on April 15, 2023 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
