Man Jumps From I-88 Overpass,

Blocking Traffic For 45 Minutes

ONEONTA – A 24-year-old man was airlifted to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City after jumping off the Exit 16 overpass onto I-88 last night.

The victim was airlifted by Lifenet to Wilson Hospital, where he is being treated for internal injuries.

I-88 was closed for approximately 45 minutes following the incident at 8:15 p.m., which State Police believe to be an attempted suicide.

    They provide over the phone and face to face assessments, crisis deescalation, and linkage to services in the home and community.

  2. IT is sad when people have to go this far. Maybe they are afraid to get help do not know where to turn. Please try to seek help it is out there reach out before its to late. You all matter to someone parents love you and so do friends please seek help.

  3. Mental health is real illness and in my opinion not enough resources to treat the problem.
    Ellis hospital has the only crisis center in the area. Our entire region there is Limited psych beds. Albany medical only accepts people from their County.
    Resources are even more limited for teens
    Many local hospital has shut their crisis centers down because of state requirements
    Mobile centers is exceptional for immediate help
    Crisis patients can wait days in an emergency room for an inpatient psych bed
    Our mental health community needs more resources
