CHERRY VALLEY – Phyllis J. Edwards, 86, who worked in the local J.D. DeBeer baseball factory until it closed in the 1980s, passed away in Bassett Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 15,1932, to Carrie (Pitt) and Vernon Whiteman, and attended Cherry Valley Central School, graduating in 1952.
On Sept. 18, 1954, she married Leon “Roger” Edwards in Cherry Valley. Together they lived in Sharon Springs. They had one daughter Cynthia.
Survivors include her husband, Leon “Roger” Edwards, daughter Cynthia (David) Wolfe of Cobleskill, sister Winfred Hinman of North Syracuse, granddaughter Jeannette (Steven) Storey of Carlisle, great-grandchildren Katelyn and Michael Storey, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother Reggie Whiteman and granddaughter Tammy Wolfe.
A funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Ottman Funeral Home.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home.
