Pindar Sets Exploratory Meeting for 2028 Spring Break Trip

Cooperstown Central School history teacher Jennifer Pindar plans to take students on yet another trip abroad. This trip will take place during spring break of 2028 and will mark the 23rd year of what has become known as “Pindar’s Travels.”
These educational trips began with presidential inaugurations and historic milestones, such as the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in America. Now, they have grown into elaborate overseas journeys through Europe and China, including stops in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, England, and Greece. Collaborating with WorldStrides—an experiential educational travel organization founded 55 years ago by history teacher Phil Wendel—makes these trips possible, and as productive as possible.
Pindar’s Travels will be exploring even more history during spring break of 2028, in which ambitious students will be given the opportunity to visit Portugal. This trip will include touring both Lisbon and Porto. A tentative meeting is planned to take place on Thursday, August 27 at 6 p.m. at the Clark Sports Center and virtually via Zoom. This trip is open to both Cooperstown students and paying adults, who are encouraged to explore and learn.
Katie Baldo, a proud chaperone of five trips with Pindar’s Travels, said of the program, “The WorldStrides team has the most engaging, accommodating and well versed tour guides. They bring history to life.”
From the student perspective, those who traveled on Pindar’s last trip to Greece, Croatia and Montenegro said they feel more connected to a place while being involved in the history of the area. These globe-trotting students learn valuable history lessons while creating their own individual experiences. Connecting real-life experiences to school studies provides unique benefits for students in the classroom, which is something they are able to carry on for the rest of their educational careers.
