ONEONTA – A Delancey man was arrested today, charged with driving a stolen car into the Oneonta’s Taylor’s Mini-Mart, Main Street, in an apparent attempt to rob the store.

Police alleged he’d done the same earlier in the evening in the Delhi area.

Wade D. Armstrong, 19, was arrested by Oneonta City Police early this morning after police located a red Subaru reported to be involved in a hit and run.

Police alleged Armstrong stole the car in the Delancey area, drove it to Oneonta and, in an attempt to steal items from the store, drove it into the side of the building,  breaking windows and damaging the building.

Earlier in the evening, Armstrong had similarly driven the car into a business in the Delhi area, police said.  State troopers assisted in that investigation.

He was charged two counts of criminal mischief in the 2nd  degree, a class D felony; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 1st degree, class D felony; possession of stolen property 4th degree, class E felony, and attempted burglary in the 3rd degree, class E felony, as well as the misdemeanor charge of aggravated unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle 3rd degree and the violation of leaving the scene of an accident.
