ONEONTA – Robert H. Hyzer, 83, of Franklin and Oneonta, who retired from Bendix after 29 years, passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2016.

Bob was born March 27, 1933 in Albany, to Harold E. and Hazel A. Hyzer.

Bob was a graduate of Delaware Literary Institute & Franklin Central School, where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and a charter member of the Varsity Club.  Bob graduated from Hartwick College with a B.A. He was formerly active in the Franklin Fire Department and Emergency Squad.

On his retirement from Bendix, E.C.D. Division, he was a senior analyst of production requirements and inventory control.  He also worked part time for 30 years at the Showcase Cinema in Oneonta from 1970 until it closed in 2000.

Bob was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three children, their spouses and children:  Daughter, Kathleen and Fred Feiler, grandson Ian and future daughter-in law, Laura; son, R. Michael and Kim Hyzer, grandson Christopher Hyzer and Rachel, granddaughter Rebecca Hyzer, great-granddaughters Lauren and Ava, grandson, Michael S. Hyzer; daughter, Anne and John Leavey, grandson Daniel and Megan, and long-time friend and companion, Mariel Tremain.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Charlotte Hyzer, his nephew, Rudy Hyzer, wife, Barbara and son Garrett.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Jarvis E. Hyzer.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin United Methodist Church.
