Where Is Congress on This Issue?

“The Washington Post” reported that President Trump gave his executive assistant and two other young employees $45,000.00 each in cash last year. This was one third of their annual salary. He gave $20,000.00 to Walt Nauta, his co-defendant in the classified documents case, who is also now a government employee. Ethics lawyer Richard Painter, under George W. Bush, said the gifts appear to violate federal law. Federal employees can’t receive salary supplements from outside sources, as this would open the door to bribes. The head of the Office of Government Ethics said that this is a situation they never envisioned.

Axios reported that top White House officials aren’t trying to persuade Trump to do or not do something. They know they cannot stop him. Last night, he promised to give every American adult $5,000.00 if the Republicans win both houses. This would cost a mere trillion dollars. Do you really think this money will come from his crypto earnings? He has promised many things in the past and not delivered. My guess is that this will be paid by us increasing the deficit yet again. Can a bribe be any clearer? Will we have to show citizenship to get the money? Where is Congress? VOTE.
