COOPERSTOWN – It was a lesson in the right attitude.

County Judge John Lambert, honored as the latest recipient of the Clark Sports Center’s Fetterman Award today at an Otesaga luncheon, was able to relate a first-hand story about Patrick Fetterman, a fabled director of the Clark Gym.

It was at a Biddy Basketball Tournament in St. Johnsville more than three decades ago.  Lambert was in sixth grade; Fetterman was coaching, when one of the Cooperstown players made everyone’s concern explicit:  “They’re cheating with the clock,” he said.

COOPERSTOWN – Paul J. Lambert, former Cooperstown Central School principal and superintendent of schools and later director of the Clark Foundation Scholarship Program, as well as a coach and well-respected member of the community, passed away late Wednesday night, Dec. 27, 2017, at Bassett Hospital.

A loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather, he was 87.

Born March 24, 1930, in Sayre, Pa., he was one of nine children of Harry F. and Mary A. (Murphy) Lambert.

A graduate of Athens High School, he attended Hartwick College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history.

COOPERSTOWN – Paul J. Lambert, former Cooperstown Central superintendent of schools, passed away late Wednesday night, Dec. 27, 2017, at Bassett Hospital.  He was 87.

In addition to CCS superintendent, he was a principal, and later director of the Clark Foundation Scholarship Program, as well as a coach and well-respected member of the community.
