Witness To Pierstown Life For Seven Decades

PIERSTOWN – Mildred Josephine Wedderspoon, a Pierstown mainstay for seven decades and first-hand witness to a rural lifestyle that is no more, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2015, at Woodside Hall in Cooperstown. She was 103.
Mildred was born in New York City Jan. 23, 1912, a daughter of Czechoslovakian immigrants, Joseph and Agnus (Balvin) Stadler.
Raised in Mount Kisco, Mildred was introduced to this area by a friend whose son attended Hyde Bay Camp for Boys. She met her future husband, Ford Dana Wedderspoon, and they married in October 1945. Mr. Wedderspoon died in 1955 but Mildred loved the area and remained in Wedderspoon Hollow for the next 60 years.
