MARYLAND – Terry “Mike” Clapper, 62, a longtime Otsego County sheriff’s deputy who then served at a courts officer, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020, at Bassett Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Terry was born on March 31, 1957, in Oneonta, the son of Raymond and Joyce (Card) Clapper.
He was a lifelong area resident and served a distinguished career with the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department, having held the positions of corrections officer, corrections sergeant and civil deputy. Terry transferred to the New York State courts as a court officer in 2008, a position which he retired from in 2020.
Dale E. Putman Jr., 69, of Maryland, was arrested after the Otsego County Sheriff’s deputies were called to his farm for a complaint of possible dead animals.
Upon arrival, deputies could allegedly smell the odor of dead animals from the barn, and during the course of the investigation, allegedly located 20 dead cows in various states of decomposition inside the barn.
MARYLAND – Elaine M. Paisley, 80, a Jamaica native who moved to the U.S. in 2000 to be near her family, passed away Aug. 16, 2018, at her home in the Town of Maryland.
She was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Jamaica, the daughter of Kenneth and Anzonetta (Hunter) Paisley.
Elaine graduated from Vauxhall High School, and attended some college courses in Jamaica. She enjoyed playing many sports, but excelled in volleyball; receiving a scholarship to the United States, but declined.
ONEONTA – Anthony Chicorelli, 93, a Navy veteran of World War II who retired from Allied Corp., died Thursday, March 30, 2017, from natural causes.
He was born June 25, 1923, son of Eugenio and Alessandra (Pallottolo) Ciccarelli. Affectionately known as Tony to friends and family, he married Frances Louise Beach in 1942. Frances left this world too soon, on May 20, 1993, 69 years young.
