ONEONTA – Pauline “Polly” Ellen Lasher Cole, 86, longtime Town of Maryland tax collector who wrote a community news column for the former Worcester Times, passed away Oct. 25, 2016, at Fox Nursing Home.

She was born March 6, 1930 in Oneonta, the daughter of Smith and Evelyn (Masker) Lasher.  Polly married Richard Cole on Oct. 16, 1948, at the Portlandville Methodist Church.

IN MEMORIAM: Veteran Wesley Osborne, 55

MARYLAND – Wesley D. Osborne, 55, an Army veteran most recently employed at Wightman’s Lumber in Portlandville, passed away Aug. 24, 2016, at Fox Hospital.

He was born Nov. 25, 1961 in Blossburg, Pa., the son of Harvey Osborne Jr. and Shirley (Scarborough) Osborne.

MARYLAND – A 24 year old Maryland man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend on three occasions over an eight month period, according to State Troopers.

Jesse J. Adams was arrested after troopers were advised of a series of physical assaults that occurred at a home on Dog Hill Road in the Town of Maryland.  An investigation determined that during disputes with his girlfriend, Adams had physically assaulted her three times over the last eight months, causing injuries.
