Royal Chrysler Gives $10,000

Of Holiday Joy To Toys For Tots

With help from college students, police and Royal Chrystler employees, more than $10,000 worth of toys were donated to Toys for Tots annual toy drive. “Every year, we set an increasing goal,” said manager Rob Howard. “We hope to hit $12,000 next year.” The toys will be distributed to local families. Toys For Tots Still Seeks

Donations For Holidays

It is a chilly morning, but that didn't keep Desiree Wheeler and the Hillside Commons Bear from standing outside the annual Fill The Bus event to benefit Toys For Tots Drive at the Southside Mall this morning. The bus, provided by OPT in conjuction with Hillside Commons, will be at the mall from 9am-11am on Saturday. Toys can still be dropped off at many locations around town before they are collected on December 14th. "I didn't get a lot of toys this year." said organizer Sharron Wheeler, "I am still about 700 toys short. I hope our County can step up to help the kids this Holiday season." Sharon Wheeler of Oneonta, a disabled Army veteran in her third day as the new Otsego-Delaware coordinator for the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots, announced at Southside Mall today that boxes are being placed at the Southside Mall, the Clark Sports Center, Tri-Town Computers and elsewhere.  If you need toys, or have a location for a box, call Sharon at 349.2737.   "We are about 3-4 weeks behind," she said. "It's been a whirlwind, but I love it!"  The toys will be given out 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Elks Club, 84 Chestnut St., Oneonta.  (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)
