IN MEMORIAM: Vickie Fullington, 64;

ONC BOCES Retiree Loved The Outdoors

EAST MEREDITH – Family and friends this afternoon celebrated the life of Vickie Jean (Powell) Fullington, 64, an ONC BOCES retiree whose love of the outdoors extended to shooting black power and throwing ’hawks and knives.

She passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at the Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a short, but courageous battle with leukemia.

Vickie was born on June 20, 1952, in Margaretville, and attended Grand Gorge High School. She retired from BOCES after 20 years as a special education teaching assistant. Vickie had many passions in her life including state Muzzleloaders Association (NYSMLA), Oxford Rod & Gun Club, Kuyahoora Valley Rangers muzzleloaders and the Caroga F&G Club. She loved being outdoors and camping at every opportunity she could do so.

Her greatest passion were for her four grandchildren, Skyler Fullington, Ashley Fullington, Jameson Brown and Callen Brown. You could always find her in the audience of a school concert, play or awards ceremony or on sidelines cheering for every athletic event they participated in.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Daniel J. Fullington; her daughter, Heather (Fullington) Brown and son-in-law, Zachary Brown of Oneonta; her son, Daniel R. Fullington of East Meredith; father, Richard Powell of Florida; brothers, Dan Powell of Grand Gorge, Richard Powell of Grand Gorge, Greg Powell of Maryland and David Powell of Florida; and many other family and friends.

The family of Vickie Fullington would like to thank the staff at Albany Medical Center, especially the nurses for their efforts and compassion to make Vickie and her family comfortable while she was there. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
