IN MEMORIAM: Alfred Gilbertsen, 82;

Machinist Retired From Bendix In 1992

“Gilly” Gilbertsen

SIDNEY – Alfred “Gilly” Gilbertsen 82, a retired Bendix machinist, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born July 15, 1936, son of the late Alfred and Viola (Walsh) Gilbertsen in Brooklyn.

Al served in the Army in 1960-66. In 1965 He married Lillian O’Hara in the Rockdale Church in Guilford.

Al retired from Bendix in Sidney in 1999.

He was a charter member of the Sidney Elks Lodge #2175 and a member of the Sidney American Legion.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Lillian; four sons, Alfred (Lisa) of Marianna, Fla., David (Bridget), Syracuse, Roy (Kathy), Bartow, Fla., and Eric (Niki) Lakeland, Fla.; 10 Grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Also, brothers Robert, Roy, George, Jerry, William, Walter and Edward, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by brother Thomas, and sister Jeanette Scutt.

Services are private. Burial with military honors will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.
