If you happened to walk by the Baseball Hall of Fame a few minutes ago, you would have seen a training exercise for future members – two- and four-legged – of the state police K-9 Unit in their sixth week of a 20-week training program at Chicken Hill Farm Road, outside Cooperstown.  From left are State Trooper Matt Johnstone, the trainer; Albany officer Bret Phillips and Doug; Trooper Andrew Gargiulo and TJ; Adam Claudio from the U.N. with Taz; Victor Buttaro, also from the U.N., with Mia; Trooper Travis Bauer, with Hugh, and Trooper Anthony Santoro.  Johnstone said downtown Cooperstown on a busy day like today – rain had brought Dreams Park families into the village at full force – is ideal for training the K-9s not to be distracted by noise, crowds or traffic.
